1. What significant life experiences or events have influenced and shaped your artistic vision?
Moments that forced me to confront emotions I had long suppressed—whether sadness, joy, or something else entirely—have profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The freedom to explore these emotions without limitations or societal rules created an explosive impact on how I create and evolve as an artist. It's this raw emotional exploration that drives my creativity forward.
2. Collaboration often sparks fresh creativity. Can you share an example of a collaboration that led to an unexpected and exciting artistic outcome?
Collaborating with Nike on a shoe charm collection was a transformative experience. It gave me the chance to reimagine my vision on a legendary canvas with so much cultural history. Every decision I made for that project felt like I was adding a new layer to Nike’s legacy—merging heritage with rebellion. The result was a bold statement, pushing boundaries and redefining what “right” and “wrong” mean in design.
3. Walk us through a specific project that challenged your creative boundaries. How did you approach it, and what did you learn from the experience?
My work as the creative director at OHTNYC is a constant exercise in breaking creative boundaries. Each project presents unique hurdles—be it physical, emotional, operational, or logistical. These challenges force me to adapt and expand my creative vision, allowing my ideas to bend, stretch, and sometimes stand unwavering. What I’ve learned is that every obstacle is an invitation to rethink and rediscover the potential in myself and my work.
4. In the ever-evolving art world, what do you believe sets your work apart and makes it unique or groundbreaking?
I approach creation without judgment or preconceptions of what is “right” or “wrong.” That freedom is what sets my work apart. In a world consumed by rules and norms, I believe true art is born when you strip those away. My work is driven by endless possibilities, created within my own framework rather than someone else’s standards. It’s this unfiltered approach that makes my art resonate.
5. As you reflect on your journey, are there any specific goals or milestones you've set for your artistic career in the coming years?
Looking ahead, I want to immerse myself even further into the fashion world of NYC. My goal is to shape both myself and OHTNYC into entities driven purely by the beauty of design and the power of creation. I want my work to go beyond social media buzz and celebrity endorsements—to stand as a reflection of artistry at its core.
