La Belle Et La Bête

Photographer: Hideaki Shimamoto

  • LA BELLE ET LA BÊTE explores the duality between tradition and modernity in Kyoto, Japan. By controversially styling men in delicate, feminine looks and women in hyper-sexy or more masculine clothing, we challenge rigid gender norms against the backdrop of one of Japan's most traditional cities. Shot at a shrine and in the countryside, the juxtaposition sparked stares and disapproving glances from onlookers—exactly the reaction we hoped to provoke. This editorial aims to break conventions and ignite conversations about identity and self-expression in deeply conservative spaces.
