Break

AS A MOVEMENT, PUNK BY ITS NATURE DEFIES DEFINITION. AN IDEOLOGY THAT INFLUENCED LITERATURE, POETRY, FASHION AND POLITICAL REBELLION. ANY FORM OF AUTHORITARIANISM, CULTURE AND CONTROL IMPOSED BY SOCIETY WAS REJECTED, AND THEY PRESENTED THEMSELVES WITH A STYLE THAT WENT AGAINST ALL THE CANONS OF FASHION, TO REPRESENT THE ATROPHIED CONDITION IN WHICH THE COUNTRY FOUND ITSELF.
THE TORN AND UNSTITCHED, PRINTED AND BLEACHED CLOTHES WERE IMBUED WITH MEANINGS OF SOCIAL CRITICISM AND TABOO BREAKING, AMPLIFIED BY ACCESSORIES SUCH AS SAFETY PINS, STUDS AND CHAINS. THEY ALSO WORE BOURGEOIS CLOTHES SUCH AS JACKETS AND TIES, THEN IRONICALLY FILLED THEM WITH SAFETY PINS AND STUDS. PINS THAT PASS FROM THE CLOTHES TO THE EARS AND THE FACE, ALREADY HEAVILY DEFORMED BY EXCESSIVE AND SMEARED MAKE-UP.
NOT TO MENTION THE “ELECTRIFIED” EFFECT HAIR WHICH REFERRED TO THE IDEA OF ELECTROSHOCK, A TOOL FOR CORRECTING DISSIDENCE AND DEVIANCE. CIRCLED EYES, ACCENTUATED PALLOR, THINNESS AND AWKWARD POSTURES.
BREAK WAS BORN FROM THE UNION OF THE HISTORY OF THIS SUBCULTURE AND THE PRINCIPLE OF UPCYCLING WHICH NOWADAYS IS INCREASINGLY DEVELOPING TO COMBAT THE POLLUTION CAUSED BY THE FASHION SECTOR DUE TO THE SO-CALLED “DISPOSABLE” FASHION. UPEYCLING CONSISTS OF TAKING USED CLOTHING AND CREATING NEW GARMENTS OR ACCESSORIES WITHOUT DESTROYING THEM: IT IS CREATIVITY, IN PARTICULAR, THAT MAKES THEM “RISE” (UP) IN LEVEL AND REPRESENT SOMETHING UNIQUE AND ORIGINAL IN THE PERSONAL WARDROBE. COMBINING THEM WITH THE DECONSTRUCTION OF THE HEAD, REAL SCULPTURES THAT ENVELOP THE BODY AND REVOLUTIONIZE CLASSIC SHAPES, INSERTING NEW VOLUMES AND CUTS.
