1. What significant life experiences or events have influenced and shaped your artistic vision?
My artistic vision as a fashion designer was deeply influenced by my studies in music, which was my first introduction to self-expression through art.
This foundation paved the way for my belief in merging fashion and art into wearable art pieces. My first fashion show at Athens Designer Week in 2019 solidified for sure this idea, showing me the power of fashion as a form of art. Additionally, seeing my costumes come to life in a theatrical play in 2016 was a revelation, as I realized that my creations could tell their own stories, blending seamlessly into the narrative while standing out as individual works of art.
2. Collaboration often sparks fresh creativity. Can you share an example of a collaboration that led to an unexpected and exciting artistic outcome?
Creativity often sparks when you least expect it, emerging when your mind is occupied with minor tasks, allowing memories and desires to ignite a creative moment. A collaboration that filled my heart with hope and strengthened my belief in my artwear was serving as the art director for the opening ceremony of the Mediterranean Beach Games in Greece in 2019. The organizing committee entrusted me with showcasing my modern aesthetic to a broader audience, and I was fortunate to meet wonderful people from around the world who wore my creations. They became ambassadors of my creativity, proving fashion's power to communicate on a deep, impactful level.
3. In the ever-evolving art world, what do you believe sets your work apart and makes it unique or groundbreaking?
What sets my work apart in the ever-evolving art world is the emphasis on intricate craftsmanship and a personal artistic statement. I don’t design to be provocative or adhere to a specific style; instead, I aim for my creations to have a unique identity and a lasting impact on people. My approach is guided by a personal touch and inner structure, focused not on impressing but on creating meaningful connections. I believe that everyone is unique, and the challenge lies in how to stand out and continue evolving over time, allowing my pieces to tell their own stories.
4. As you reflect on your journey, are there any specific goals or milestones you've set for your artistic career in the coming years?
I don't see my work as a career in the traditional sense but rather as a journey of creation. Looking ahead, I dream of showcasing my artwear in a fashion show outside of Greece and collaborating with talented individuals from diverse countries and backgrounds. I also aspire to establish a space where I can exhibit my creations and stay connected with my associates and friends, making this creative journey a shared and continuously evolving experience. For me, the goal is to keep exploring, pushing boundaries, and finding new ways to express my vision through fashion.
