1. What inspired you to pursue editorial and fashion photography?
Fashion photography is the only kind of photography I have always did, I find a sense of creative freedom in the editorial side that isn't present in other photography styles being able to create scenarios to tell a story or showcase trends is something I love.
2. Can you tell us a bit about your creative process when planning and executing a photoshoot?
An idea always emerges within me, something I have nurtured through writing since my childhood. I have the ability to create numerous sketches of the stories I wish to convey. My laptop is filled with folders containing mood boards and ideas, patiently awaiting to do them. The starting point for my creative process can stem from a trend, a specific place, or even from the inspiration I draw from paintings or cinema. I begin by developing the concept I want to convey, and later on, the elements of location, lighting, and models come into play.
3. What has been your favorite photo location or session?
I'm not sure if I have a favorite place. I enjoy shooting in unexpected or uncommon locations, as it adds contrast to my images and allows me to depart from the typical fashion settings found in editorial works. This approach helps me achieve the aesthetic I am looking for.
4. What sets your photography style apart, and how have you developed your signature look?
When people ask me about developing a style, I often say that it takes years, and discovering your unique style is the most challenging part. It cannot be planned; it simply emerges when you free yourself from overthinking techniques and allow it to evolve something organically. It's like when someone sees a photo and immediately recognizes it as yours – that's the best feeling. The same happens in art, where you can identify a painting without prior knowledge of its creator, or in music, when you hear a chord and instantly know which band it belongs to. I'm not sure if I could accurately describe the characteristics of my style, surely I’ll be wrong haha, different perceptions exist, and it's easier for others who view my photos to articulate it than for me to do so.
5. How did you end up based in New York City?
I ended up based in New York City because I yearned for new challenges, and what better place to face them than in a city as dynamic as New York? I had traveled there several times for work or holidays and one day I began to see the city as to live there, then a lot of things mobilized me. NY is an incredible city, characterized by its diverse cultural mix and an artistic atmosphere that permeates every corner. It's a city where any artist can find inspiration in unexpected places. At first, it can be overwhelming, but once you settle in, you discover places where you can escape the constant flow of information and take a break from the city within the city itself.
6. Let’s talk about your latest exhibitions, how were they?
They were incredible! Being able to showcase my work and witness people's reactions is such a rewarding experience. It brings me closer to reality because we often get caught up in the world of social media, where our perception is filtered through devices and influenced by others. Seeing genuine live reactions is something beautiful and unique. I have numerous projects in the pipeline to take my exhibitions to different locations, and I'm currently working on them excited.
7. How do you see yourself in the (near) future?
In the (near) future, I envision myself doing what brings me joy and fulfillment in all aspects of life, while continuing to nurture and expand my projects. I aspire to keep traveling for my work, which provides opportunities to connect with new people, experience diverse cultures, and explore beautiful places.
8. Do you have any passion besides photography?
Yes, I have several! I have a passion for playing music. Although I wish I had more time for it, I enjoy playing whenever I can. Writing is another one of my passions, and I have a goal to complete my third book this year. Additionally, I love visiting art galleries when I travel; they are among my favorite places to explore.
